CHANGES TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WORKING HOURS

As of June 29, 2024, the Government of Canada and IRCC have made a change to the number of working hours international students can work. The updated number of hours is 24 hours per week. We strongly encourage all international students to always check the CANADA.CA website for any changes that may occur while you are working in Canada.

SWITCHING DLI’S AFTER ARRIVING IN CANADA

As of June 29, 2024, the Government of Canada and IRCC have made changes to the regulations regarding switching DLI’s/Institutions’. It is required that a study permit holder in Canada who has received a Letter of Acceptance to attend a DLI other than the one indicated on their study permit and who wishes to switch DLI’s submit an application for a new study permit before the start date for the new program of study. These new regulations will allow the student to attend the new DLI without a valid student permit until a decision is made on the application.

PLEASE NOTE: At McKenzie College, we believe it is best to speak to an immigration lawyer or an immigration consultant when applying for a study permit, temporary resident visa (TRV), or electronic travel authorization (ETA).
