Animation gives you the ability to explain difficult or abstract concepts in a way that no video can. The animated short film, “The Flying Sailor”, was created by Canadian artists and has recently received an Oscar Nomination. It is the perfect example of the power behind well-constructed storytelling, artwork and animation.
The Flying Sailor is a fictionalized telling of the true story of the Halifax Explosion. We see a sailor on a pier having a quiet moment lighting a cigarette before he is propelled into the air where his life flashes before his eyes. He returns to the ground, naked but alive.
